Pencil art...

But, probably not what you're thinking.

Steamboat McGoo linked to this, and I needed to point y'all to it, too.

Do you know what this is?

It is not a handsaw.  It is the lead of a carpenter's pencil that has been sculpted.  Go look at what this guy does.  It's pretty unique art IMHO.

I'll probably try it myself!  Maybe.  Probably not...

  1. It even looks like there's lettering on the blade. Crazy!

  2. Inno, I figured a guy with an eye for detail like you would spot that.

Crazy, for sure! But, pretty dang cool.

  4. Cool, nary a doubt. But the first thing that came to my warped lil mind is some folks have waaay too much time on their hands. Bless their hearts, and all that.

  5. I'm thinking that artist's eyes are a whit sharper than mine. Amazing.

  6. Buck, that was actually the first thing that came to my mind, too.

But, all our minds work different. I can (as you obviously can) appreciate how some fellow channels his firing synapses into art...no matter how obscure the medium (or media...not sure, which is correct).

The older I get, the more fascinated I become with people like the pencil lead sculpture guy dude.

    Seriously.

  7. Moogie, when The Mrs. looked at this she said, "He must have some real strong reading glasses, or some kind of Superman vision."

Actually I tried one out this afternoon.

    Sigh...

  8. I think the lettering on the side of the saw is his signature and date! Look on one or two other items and you can see he signed them.

  9. BTW: I love that wood screw he carved. The thing looks machined.

    Its perfect.

  10. Steamboat, you might be right. Most artists do sign their work.

And, when I was showing this to The Mrs. & FDIL they both noted just the same thing about the screw.

Thanks again for posting the link.
