73,000 Wordpress blogs shut down by U.S. Government. Go read it, and chase the link at the bottom to "Torrent Freak." Only if you want to, of course.

Just Andy's Place... Just what Andy believes, what Andy thinks, where Andy lives, who (and what) Andy loves, and who Andy IS! ...IT'S ALL ABOUT ME, DANGIT!!!
I'm not sure either. According to 'Torrent Freak' the quote was 'at the request' of the government, and they acknowledged that there had been a lot of sharing of copyrighted materials. I still don't understand shutting down the whole server, however.
ReplyDeleteI think not enough info.
I'd like to see more info, too, but this is disturbing to say the least. 73,000 blogs gone in one fell swoop -- maybe we should be saving our data! I don't want you guys just to vanish into shattered cyberspace someday!
ReplyDeleteHeh. First thing I did when I read this was make sure mine was still up!
ReplyDeleteThen I went to every WP-hosted site in my personal blogroll to see if any "friends" were among the 73K blogs. Nope. No one unaccounted for.
Now I'm running a backup for mine - just in case.
