The subject of adoption might not interest you if you weren’t adopted, nor ever adopted a child. But it does interest me, as the Mrs. and her brother were adopted as babies by their folks. The Mrs. went through a good bit of emotional struggle over the years with many issues concerning her adoption. Several years back, she found her birth mother, but it was a hard, hard thing to do. Finding her birth mother really helped her deal with a lot of things.
She became a true believer in “open adoption laws.” If she had a broad platform, she would sure be using it to advocate for them.
This story came out from England about this boy and gal that got married, and then discovered that they were twins that had been separated at birth.
I know that a lot of people are against letting adopted kids find their parents just by asking, but a story like this gives an “open adoption” advocate fresh ammo. The entire article is here
This from the article:
The horrified British couple faced the heartbreak of seeking to have their marriage annulled in the High Court after eventually finding out their love was forbidden. A judge was forced to rule the union was NEVER valid in law. Last night the peer who uncovered the astonishing case told The Sun of the twins’ “trauma”. Lord Alton of Liverpool said: “Anyone hearing this story would feel heartbroken for them.
I know I sure do feel heartbroken for them kids...food for thought for sure!
