Since the theme of politics this year seems to be "hope," and "change," I can think of one group of folks that are really HOPING FOR A CHANGE!
That would be the members of the PGA Tour. Tiger Woods has opened the season playing golf the way that he "can." A few years back, it looked like Tiger was a mere mortal. During that time in his career, he did prove that he can play golf like "the other guys." But Tiger is back to his old ways...ripping the heart out of the PGA.
LA Times article here
MARANA, Ariz. -- He may lose to someone, sometime, somewhere, but no one's beaten Tiger Woods any time, anywhere for quite a spell.
After he climbed out of bed Saturday at 3:45 a.m., Woods spent the next 12 hours playing 34 holes, making nine birdies and one eagle, winning two more matches and moving to within striking distance of his fifth consecutive PGA Tour victory.
Woods beat K.J. Choi, and defending champion Henrik Stenson at the Accenture Match Play Championship in Tucson, AZ yesterday. He takes on Stuart Cink today in the 36 hole final. After Stensons' loss to Woods he said, "That is all any of us can do, keep on trying and eventually we'll get him..."
Riiiiiight. They are all HOPING FOR A CHANGE.
Woods hasn't lost since the first week of September (that's a long time), and if you count the unofficial Target World Challenge, Tigers' worldwide winning streak is 6.
Certainly Tiger is not going to win every tournament this year. He might not win the Accenture today against Stuart Cink. But the "good old days" for the PGA Tour when nobody was ever a "favorite" are over (again).
