FINALLY, A COURT RULING I AGREE WITH!

Okay y'all, I know that this is a touchy subject. But I came down early on the side of this FLDS church compound in Eldorado, TX on the illegal, and immoral seizure of all their children.

The allegations of "child abuse" came from one still undiscovered alleged victim (personally, I think it was probably that wack job gal from Colorado...but that's another subject). I stated early on that this is not how you investigate allegations. Texas law enforcement stepped way over the line on this one.

Now, as much as I disagree with these FLDS people on their doctrines and practices, it really troubled me that 400 plus kids would be ripped away from their Mommas and Daddies...especially since a bunch of them didn't practice polygamy anyway...some were single parents that had converted (maybe they were nuts to do it, but that ain't the business of Texas CPS).

Well, this afternoon a Texas appellate court ruled that the disruption of those children's lives was a sure violation of Texas law. You can look at the whole AP article here...but the main information is this:

SAN ANGELO, Texas (AP) - A state appellate court has ruled that child welfare officials had no right to seize more than 400 children living at a polygamist sect's ranch.

The Third Court of Appeals in Austin ruled that the grounds for removing the children were "legally and factually insufficient" under Texas law. They did not immediately order the return of the children.

This kind of stuff really aggravates my Libertarian sensibilities.

Good decision Judges...Take two "attaboys" and come back to work tomorrow!
