TODAY'S LOAD OF DOOKIE...

MTV is reporting on their computer page that Mychal Bell "accidentally" shot himself. Now, just in case y'all have forgot, Mychal Bell (now 18 years old) was a member of the angelic "Jena 6."

Time passes and folks lose interest, but for about 6 months "The Jena 6" case was as unavoidable as the flu (less avoidable I guess, as you can get a shot to miss the flu). Mychal Bell became, at a very tender age, just another in the long line of black folks used by other black folks to whip up other black folks for a big rally where they could pass the collection plate.

I am not going to revisit the whole truth of the "Jena 6," but suffice it to say that 6 young black guys locked one really geeky white guy in a classroom and showed just how tough 6 young black guys can be against one geeky white guy.

Now, don't get me wrong. I've got nothing against teenagers (especially boys) standing up for themselves and their people. When I was in high school, if I had been walking down the hall at school, or at a party and some geeky white guy said, "Mychal, you niggers can't sit under our tree...we got the noose out there ready for you (which is not what really happened, but I use that for effect). Or even, "Hey Mychal, I had a blast with your Momma last night," I would be the first one to say:

"Mychal...you ain't gonna take that are you?" Then I would offer to hold the jackets, and stand back and watch Mychal beat the snot out of the geeky white dude that was stupid enough to say it, and deserved what he got. But that's not what happened.

It didn't happen that way because Myhcal Bell is not a normal high testosterone teen aged boy. He's a thug.

The MTV article here, amazingly leaves out the fact that this poor young fellow was arrested on charges of shoplifting, resisting arrest, and simple assault over the weekend at a shopping mall in Monroe, LA where he had relocated so that he could get his life straightened out.

The MTV article proposes that Bell was "cleaning a gun" when he "accidentally" shot himself. First of all, why is a convicted criminal (even though convicted as a juvenile) allowed to be anywhere near a firearm while in foster care...especially a boy that has proven to be violent and disrespectful of the law, others, or the property of others?

The whole thing is a load of dookie. This boy tried to kill himself...I know he did. He is a troubled young man that needs real help. Some adults need to get in charge of this boy's life. Maybe Al Sharpton, or one of the thousands that "marched" in Jena on his behalf can take this young fellow in and teach him a better way. If not, this will not be the last time that Mychal Bell makes the news.
