I think everybody knows at least one immigrant to the US. A blogger that I read daily is from South Africa, and lived over in the country of Europe for a while before he finally got to the good old US of A. He is a naturalized citizen, and appreciates the freedoms he enjoys probably more than a regular old native soil boy like me.
Several years ago, a little gal from Thailand opened up a barber shop around the corner from our house. It was about a 75 foot walk, so I went around there and got her to cut my hair. You could barely understand her English, and she made you write your name down, and took a picture of you when she got finished cutting your hair. But she worked like a Turk and got her business up and running...eventually earned her citizenship...is a proud American...and has a nice "hair styling salon" in a better part of town now (but we all still go get her to make us look good).
In the neighborhood I live in, we have a pretty hefty contingent of Mexican immigrants. I've gotten to be friends with a guy who came here about 25 years ago. He earned his citizenship, speaks English real good, owns his own business, is a stout Republican, and has a way better truck than mine.
So, it bothers me when I see hundreds of thousands of Mexicans marching in Los Angeles, waving Mexican flags, and sporting signs that run down the US & claim California back (actually, it would be okay with me, but it's the principle of the thing that really gives me the reds).
There is some conflicting information on the world wide computer, but as well as I can tell this song was written by Thomas Hoier, and Jimmie Morgan in 1915.

ReplyDeleteWhen I first moved to California 30 years ago, the Mexican immigrants were not radical. Then came Cesar Chavez and his white letist allies and they radicalized some (but not all) of the Mexicans. They're the "useful idiots" of white communists.
