NOOOOOORM!!!!!!!!!!!

Everybody my age or older remembers Cheers, and the familiar greeting that Norm Peterson (played by George Wendt on the program) received every time he walked into Sam (MayDay) Malone's bar in Boston... "NORM!!!!!!!!!!"

The character, Norm Peterson was the perfect loser. He was an accountant, beer taster, and who knows what else...and always ended up on the short end of the stick in his pursuits. I can't remember the name of his wife right now, but it seems that he was a pretty good loser at home, too.

So now, we've got this other "Norm." It seems that Senator Norm Coleman of Minnesota is just about to come full circle as a loser.

I'm just wondering how painful it must be to a fellow's ego! Imagine in a single political lifetime losing an open Gubernatorial race to Jesse "The Body" Ventura...and then losing your US Senate seat to Al "The Mouth" Franken. Gwaaaa...a professional wrestler, and a professional failure...and you still lose. Talk about a double sigh!

Well, maybe Carla can cheer up old Norm...or maybe Cliff... Where is Coach when you need him?
