SECULAR CONSERVATISM?...A PROFOUND THOUGHT THAT WOULD HAVE CHANGED YOUR LIFE...UPDATED...

Hey y'all! I slept late this morning (about 6 am. as I usually do on Friday). Me and the Mrs. had a good morning...went shopping for groceries at WalMart, and then to this really good fish restaurant called the Red Lobster for lunch. Then we went to JC Penney's so I could swap the jeans Momma had given me for Christmas that were too small due to the fact that I am getting fat (I haven't had to wear 32's for 20 years...but I reckon I do now).

Then we went to the Home Depot to get a slidey-lock deal for my neighbor's door, and a new pair of lopping shears (The Mrs. has "had it" with the old ones...SHE IS PROUD...when we got home she tried 'em out on the dead hibiscus, the dead hydrangia...and she's tuning up to use 'em tomorrow on the dead Angel Trumpet). Everything is finally dead in the yard due to the fact that it's been colder than a witch's titty.

All this morning, I had been planning to give y'all my wise words on how wrong that fellow was about God not taking sides on Conservatism vs. Liberalism when we finally got all our rats killed. So, I had recollected my thoughts, and just as I sat down to enlighten y'all...a knock came on the door. It was one of my Daddy's renters..."Mr. Andy, I've got water pouring out of the bottom of my water heater...can you come take a look?" I knew what it was, of course...an afternoon of work! Actually it was okay, because that was the last old water heater that had not gone bad in the apartments...it was only a matter of time, and I had been expecting that knock on the door.

Thankfully, we have gotten a break in the cold weather. It was only about 28 degrees, instead of four degrees like yesterday. I called Daddy, and he went and bought a new water heater at the Home Depot...heck, if I'd known, I could have got one when I was up there buying lopping shears. But we got the new one put in...and everybody's happy!

In the ensuing hours of knuckle-busting, it seems that I have forgotten all my good points again. But the good part is that I was working with my Daddy, so I didn't curse...not once. And I was helping my Daddy.

So, maybe by tomorrow I will have recollected my profound thoughts, and will finally give y'all the wisdom you deserve. Right now, I'm just cold, dirty, satisfied with a job well done...and grateful for a warm house with the bathtub drains all working!
