In a stunning development, former Senator and well-known tax cheat Tom Daschle (D-S. Dakota) has withdrawn himself from nomination to head The Department of Health & Human Services.
WASHINGTON (AP) - Tom Daschle has withdrawn his nomination to be Health and Human Services secretary.
I'm depressed. I was so looking forward to Tom "fixing" health care in the US. After all, he's a real expert...
Well, since this obviously brilliant nomination went down in flames, I will give President Obama some advice for an alternate nominee.
1) Congressman Dr. Charles Boustany (R-Louisiana). Dr. Boustany is a freakin' genius, a Medical Doctor, and a guy that could very well head up HHS. (and he pays his taxes)
2) Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal. Bobby was 2nd in command at HHS under that Thompson dude from Wisconsin in the Bush administration. He is a stinkin' genius...health care is his real specialty. He's got about 4 degrees in it. Plus, it would get him out of Louisiana...would not hurt my feelings one bit at this point. (and he pays his taxes)
3) Don't fill the position, and eliminate the Department of Health & Human Services. We've got a gozillion dollar deficit, and have no business with a department like this anyway...this would be a good place to start trimming the deficit.
Even though I'm crushed that Tommy dropped out, I still have hope that the hospitals might stay open. Got my fingers crossed...
