SINCE I'M TALKIN' JAPS...

I reckon I've got Japs on the brain, but I had told y'all before about the glorious Japanese Magnolia tree in my front yard.

If I'm lyin', I'm dyin', it is the most fabulous sight in Bossier City in February. By Valentines Day, it is in full bloom every year. People do literally stop their cars while driving down the street to look at it. It is about 30 or 35 feet tall now, and there must be seventy zillion pink & white blooms on it at it's peak.

This year it looks like crap. Thanks to global warming, many of the blooms got bit in our "unexpected" visit from Jack Gore Frost. And then last night the few blooms that were pretty nice-looking blew away in the four thousand mile per hour winds that blew through due to a powerful Gore cold front.

I was in Oklahoma yesterday, and drove back home in the afternoon through the most hellacious wind and rain that I've ever ventured into. I truly felt like Noah had closed up the ark and forgot to invite me. I almost lost my life four or five times on those wonderful Oklahoma highways yesterday... I reckon that I must have dragged all that mess along with me back to Louisiana, because when I awoke this morning it looked like God had sent pink snow.

My beautiful Japanese Magnolia is a shadow of it's former self...thanks to Al Gore, and his global warming. But I have memories recorded from previous years...
