...A hero for the ages!
Being the ignorant one that I am, I have just recently become aware of the most remarkable life of Irena Sendler. She bravely saved about 2,500 Jewish children from the Nazis in the Warsaw ghettos, and then after the war lived a life of persecution, and self-sacrifice for the sake of the oppressed. Take the time to read her Wiki page.
As if there was any doubt already that the Nobel Committee is a freakin' joke, witness this passage from her bio:
In 2007 considerable publicity[10] accompanied Sendler's nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize.[11] While failed nominations for the award have not been officially announced by the Nobel organization for 50 years, the International Peace Research Institute, Oslo, reported in 2007 that Irena Sendler's nominator had made the nomination public. [12] Regardless of its legitimacy, talk of the nomination focused a spotlight on Sendler and her wartime achievements. (The 2007 award went to Al Gore, former Vice President of the United States, and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.)
Well, after all, Al has done A LOT to bring "peace" to humanity, like...ummm...I'm thinking...ummmmmmm...hold on. Well, I'll have to get back to y'all on that one.
