TUESDAY STUFF...

WHEW!!! I have been busy, and working HURT. I'm pretty sure that I cracked some ribs about a week ago in my right back rib-cage. As usual, I was doing something I shouldn't have been...sigh...

It's been getting worse and worse (Just like the time I cracked some ribs while changing the transmission in my truck by myself...the danged thing fell square on my chest and I was in pain for about 3 months. It finally healed up, but breathing was a witch, just like this is becoming. Of course, swinging a shovel since then probably has not helped me heal...but ya' gotta do what ya' gotta do!).

Ya' know...time waits for no one, so what needs doing must get done!

Anyway, enough about me! Tuesday stuff:

The Third World City of De-Troit, Michigan should be in mourning today. Besides the fact that it has become a third world city, one of it's beloved sports "characters" has taken the dirt nap.

Mark "The Bird" Fidrych Dead at 54

Now, if you don't remember Fidrych, you missed one of the true "characters" in baseball history. Though his career with the De-Troit Tigers was short...the guy could light up Tiger Stadium...and Monday Night Baseball...and he could draw a crowd like hippies draw flies.

Texas...It's A Whole 'Nother Country!

Texas Governor Rick Perry becomes (as far as I know), the first sitting Governor to smack back at Washington in a combative way. It's about good and dadgummed time! If these Goobers of our 50 States don't find their cojones pretty quick, we're all sunk! I'll tell y'all...Perry's stock just rose way up on my "watch list." Video of his speech:

And, let me leave y'all with some computer pictures from my yard. I just love Springtime. The Mrs. has two green thumbs, and does her best to make our lower-class urban home into an "Island Paradise."

Purple Iris -
They're just starting to bust out really good. In a couple of weeks the beds will be full of their glory!

Amaryllis -
My sister-in-law gave this to us several years ago. I like her...

Pink Rose -
I don't know the official name of the variety...but it sure do pretty!

  1. Wow, the Bird dead! I was lucky enough to see him pitch a couple of times in person. Once when he was in the majors, and another when he was in the minors on a rehab assignment in Evansville, Indiana.

He was a decent pitcher, and even better showman...

And, to think, he died within a couple of days of Marilyn Chambers (56) star of Behind the Green Door. I know, she was a porn star. Yet, there are a lot worse things that a person could do, sell or make drugs, abuse children, etc.

Makes us all realize how fragile life is.

  2. I'll ignore the post below. Too sleazy for me but I'll endorse the redneck solution to piracy above.

Every home I've owned I've spent more time and money on the garden than "interior decoration."

I'm green with envy that you can grow amaryllis outside. It's a South African lily and it's botanical name is hippy ass trim - oops - Hippeastrum.

  3. Yeah Walt, life is fragile for sure. The Bird was a trip to watch alright. I had heard that Marilyn Chambers passed away, and meant to make note of it but I got off track and forgot.

Patrick, I thought you would know the botanical name for hippy ass trim. It is a glorious rascal to see. We can grow darned near everything outside in Louisiana.
