A reading of the story really just makes me shake my head. And, it also makes me realize just how "foreign" the mindset of many Americans is to mine.
The fact that two men want to commit to one another is their business, and I don't give a flying fig.
But as you read the story, you find that both of these men are homeless, living in a shelter for gays. And you discover that one of the men has big plans and dreams for his life. He one day plans to become a "real woman." Now, I am having trouble with the mindset of his boyfriend. He doesn't consider his partner to be a man...he thinks of her as a woman. Obviously, this boy did not do well in biology...and is deranged.
In order to dupe the City into performing the marriage, this man/woman presented his/her "benefit card" as identification. If you don't know what a benefit card is, it is a card people use to take your tax money for themselves. Call it a "welfare license," kinda like a driver's license for people with no prospect of ever owning a car.
Aside from the truth that New York City is too stupid to require something like...oh, I don't know...A BIRTH CERTIFICATE MAYBE to establish identity, the fact is that this couple intentionally defrauded the citizens of New York. Hmmm...of course you don't have to present a birth certificate to be President of the United States (thus defrauding the entire nation), so I guess New York figures it would be "racist" to ask for one. But I digress.
And it seems that the purpose of this fraud was likely in order to qualify for "married couples" welfare housing...I guess that's a step up from "single, gay, retarded" welfare housing. I have a feeling that this is not the first time that either of them has tried to "get over" on their fellow citizens.
It is
Well, maybe this guy/gal can sell enough of his/her food stamps to friends over the next few years to save up for that BIG operation that will finally seal the deal, and settle his/her sexual identity struggle.
The good news is that this young couple will not be burdening us all with 12 welfare babies. But, I guess they could adopt.
Maybe it's just my "middle-America" upbringing, or my Christian roots that don't allow me to view ANY of this as acceptable. I struggle with my own prejudices, as any honest human will admit. Stories like this make that struggle MUCH more difficult.
The other day I was watching Tv and flipped past a channel where two guys were going through sex changes to become women. They were in love and wanted to get married. If only one of them would complete the process they could get married but they want us to change the law and to let them as two women get married. Stupid, stupid, stupid and more stupid...MUD
