  1. Hmmmm...I'm not sure I would characterize 'Get Down Tonight' as my favortie Saturday Night Love Song, but I do like the song...for fast dancing purposes...and for strolls down memory lane.

For slow dancing, I actually prefer the song you've posted and many others like Marvin Gay's 'Get Down Tonight' or 'Unchained Melody' by the Righteous Brothers or 'New Orleans Ladies' by Leroux...and many others.

The Uniques are Louisiana homeboys, aren't they?

  2. Oops...typos strikes again. That should be Marvin Gay's 'Let's Get It On'...

  3. Dadman, I was just joshin' with ya'. I started to post "Colour My World," but I didn't want to get you cussing. I know you are a HUGE Disco fan, and figured you'd enjoy a little Sunshine Band...

Ahhhh yes, The Righteous Brothers' "Unchained Melody," and "Let's Get It On" by Marvin Gaye could surely do the trick!

New Orleans Ladies is a keeper, too...by two-hit-wonder Leroux. My French isn't so good, but I think Leroux means "red head."

And yes sir! "Joe Stampley and the Uniques" were local boys. I think Joe was from Springhill (or thereabouts).

  4. Heh. I'm not a huge Disco fan (just in case you weren't joshin' me about that). I think Disco killed rock & roll and I'll never forgive it for that...

  5. Yeah Dadman...I was just joshin' you about that.

Hey, I found out that LeRoux doesn't mean "red head." From the Wickedpedia article on the band, the band name was supposed to refer to "roux." I know what "roux" is. Pam stirs up a fabulous one as her gumbo base.

Man...we bought some shrimps (already peeled) on Friday...I feel like some Seafood Gumbo tonight.

And I'm with ya'. I never did care for Disco...but Travolta made it look so easy that all the chicks figured every guy could do that.

    NOT!
