LOVE SONG SATURDAY NIGHT...

I grew up a child of the late 60's/early 70's. Pop music was really undergoing a transformation. (But what's new about that, huh?)

I have chosen this video for a couple of reasons. Reason #1 is that I was madly, terribly, hopelessly in love with Karen Carpenter when I was 12 (or thereabouts) years old. And TRUST ME, I was not the only one!!! I mean, a chick drummer, with beautiful eyes, a "girl next door" smile, and a crystal clear (sexy) voice...oh man!

Reason #2 is that (even though this is not my favorite Carpenters love song..I think "Merry Christmas Darling" is...but when it is 108 degrees celsius it's hard to get into the holiday mood) it pretty well applies to my life. I've really just had "one love." And I can't help but believe that my whole life will be spent in that one love.

Some of the pictures in this video are hard for me to look at. I actually had to choke back tears a time or two. But that's just me...I can still get a lump in my throat looking at Gunsmoke reruns.

She was only 32 when her demons caught up with her and robbed us all of her golden talent.

Good memories...
