A NAIL IN THE COFFIN?
Computer letter from a friend:
The suggestion by Robert "Pork for West Virginia," Byrd to name the health care bill after the now deceased Kennedy, has attracted my attention.
If anybody knows anything about the health care bill and Kennedy, it should drive a spike right through the heart of the beast to name it after Kennedy.
What I'm worried about is that most people are idjits.... would it just add a Disneylike panache to the bill?
After all, people are so very ignorant of history, that I'm not sure what a final blow to the health care bill would be....
Let me tell you something. We now have a number of products and services that rely on cultural/historical ignorance:
Old Yeller Dog Food.... Remember what happened to Old Yeller?
AA Liquors.... A 12 step drinking program?
Exodus Moving and Storage.... I have always wanted to see my stuff loaded onto a truck to wander in the desert for 40 years!
Amelia Earhart Luggage.... That's what I want, luggage that goes on the plane, never to be seen again.
I think that many Americans are bright and industrious. I'm also aware that there are a growing number who aren't. I'm not sure they could lead a one person parade, or find their butt, even with the help of a Proctologist. I'm just afraid that in too many minds the Kennedy name may be viewed as something adding credibility... That is scary, very scary.
