That'll learn 'em!

It seems that a man, one Dalton Chiscolm of New York, has sued The Bank of America for $1784 Billion Trillion dollars! And I say, "It's about time!" These banks have been putting the shaft to the little guy for WAY too long!

Reuters is reporting that Chiscolm became angry with BofA when they refused to deposit some of his checks, due to incorrect routing numbers. I know that would really give me a case of the reds for sure. And I do not see anything unreasonable about a compensation of $1,784,000,000,000,000,000,000.00. They ARE A BANK after all!

Alas, some pesky Judge, one Denny Chin has called the demand, "incomprehensible." What? You're a Judge...you ought to be able to comprehend a sextillion...don't they teach cipherin' at Judge School? BTW, Denny Chin is the Judge that sentenced Madoff not long ago. I guess he can comprehend smaller numbers (like 65 Billion), but I digress.

I think what might have pushed this Chiscolm guy over the edge was that he had to deal with a "Spanish woman" who worked for BofA while trying to 'splain why his checks did not have valid routing numbers. I know that would really, really, really do it for me. But then, I am a racist.

In fact, I'm thinking of suing American Electric Power for cutting off my electricity (due to no fault of my own). I'm thinking I'll go light on 'em...maybe just a couple of hundred million. I'll keep y'all posted as the case proceeds...

From the article:

It's larger than a sextillion dollars, or a 1 followed by 21 zeros. Chiscolm's request is equivalent 1 followed by 22 digits.

The sum also dwarfs the world's 2008 gross domestic product of $60 trillion, as estimated by the World Bank.

"These are the kind of numbers you deal with only on a cosmic scale," said Sylvain Cappell, New York University's Silver Professor at the Courant Institute for Mathematical Sciences. "If he thinks Bank of America has branches on every planet in the cosmos, then it might start to make some sense."

Oh yeah, Sylvain? How do you know they don't? Have you been to every planet in the cosmos to check it out? I didn't think so!

Judge Chin has given him until Oct. 22 to better explain his complaint. Judge Chin...what further explanation is necessary? Are you dense? The BofA screwed this guy, and he plans to be fairly compensated. See?

Anyway, I hope he wins. It would be nice to see the little guy win one every once in a while.

  1. Chisholm is simply following a principle of negotiations: shoot high, settle where you want to be.

So he'll sue for billion-trillions, and settle for billions ;)

I'd be happy to represent him for a mere .01% fee.

    Uh huh.
