A word of caution! Don't get too giddy about ACORN...
Y'all know that my opinion of my Senator, David Vitter could not be higher! I love the guy, and often shake my head over the sad fact that had it not been for his whoring around, he would likely one day be The President of the United States.
Just so the rest of y'all will know, Senator Vitter gave a true word of caution to the citizens of Louisiana this morning. As you probably know, the US Senate has voted overwhelmingly to cut off any HUD funds that were before designated to ACORN.
As far back as March of this year, Vitter was introducing amendments in funding bills to effectively "defund" ACORN. Those amendments all went down to defeat along party lines.
This morning Senator Vitter, on the Moon Griffon Radio Show, gave a stern word of caution to citizens of Louisiana. The jist of it is "Don't get giddy! It ain't a done deal!" I'm working from memory here, but his word of caution was something pretty close to this:
"Even though we lost previous efforts to defund ACORN, the public and media attention has finally forced even Senators that really did not want to vote with us to relent. But make no mistake about it Moon, the plan of the Democrats is to have the amendment stripped in conference.
The House bill which has already passed does not contain the funding cutoff. I've got no doubt that if the public does not keep up the pressure on Congress that it will not be in the final bill when it comes out of conference. It is vital that the pressure continue."
I promise you, Vitter will keep an eye on this...and raise holy hades if it looks like ACORN will escape the axe.
