Well, it seems that a Shreveport woman may have unknowingly opted for C. This is a local story that may have international implications soon, so I wanted to give y'all a heads-up.
Our local CBS affiliate, KSLA/Shreveport, reported on the late Friday night news that a Shreveport woman had purchased a painting from her neighbors at a garage sale for $2. She said that she liked the colors of it, and had the perfect empty wall in her trailer house to hang it.
When she got it home, she realized that it was signed by Pablo Picasso. And, on the back there was some type of authentication. She then took a video of the painting, authentication, etc. and called the FBI. I'll give her kudos for smarts on that.
The FBI came and took the painting to investigate it's authenticity, and whether it was one of the many Picasso works that have "disappeared" over the last dozen years or so.
The news report was very good, and featured her home-made video...even a short visit with the poor old neighbors that may have "given away" a fortune.
It's all still "up in the air," of course. The FBI declined to comment, as the investigation is ongoing. But, it's quite a story. The young woman says that she plans to sell it, if it is authentic, and she can retain possession. Duh! She might get enough out of it to buy a new trailer, or something...
I was planning to link to the KSLA news report/video on their web-site yesterday. But they haven't updated their videos this weekend, dangit! I will keep checking, and when they post it, I'll give you a link. It's quite a story...and methinks a way better investment of 2 bucks than malt liquor.
Is this another No-Bell Peace Prize story? No? Good for the buying lady! I hope the thing is really a Picasso.
