It started snowing Thursday morning, and continued throughout the night. In fact, it's powdering down a little bit now...but it's starting to fall from the tree branches, and power lines. So, it'll probably all be gone by this evening.
About 6:30 last night, here comes Sadie..."Wham, Wham, Wham!" at the back door, ready to assume her position in the master's chamber.
I swear, as stupid as that animal is, she KNOWS when she will, and will not be allowed in. We lost power a couple of times through the night. I know, because I am a very light sleeper, and can hear it when the power goes out...seriously.
The morning light brought some pretty scenes in da hood.
Quince blooms in the snow.
About that much accumulated...but, it didn't really start sticking until late yesterday afternoon. (We've actually had much heavier accumulations in the past. Must be global warming...)
Schools are closed due to icy bridges & overpasses...especially in the rural areas. But, no trampolining today!
It's pretty. But, having lived for several years in snow country, I'm glad that it's rare.
Hey look, y'all have a good day, okay! I'm gonna be busy...gotta make some green rectangles, and my baby brother is getting married again this evening. I hope the roads stay clear enough to get out to Momma & Daddy's house, where the ceremony is to take place. It's up on Caddo Lake...we'll see.
Snow? We call that overcast and move on. Great pictures. Save them for August when it is 90 and rains at 4 PM evry day. MUD
ReplyDeleteI spent a couple of years in Wisconsin (and enjoyed it), but I don't miss the winters! This was a nice interlude, though. Makes for pretty pictures and good blogging!
ReplyDeleteHey there, Slacker, I would have appreciated a heads up a LITTLE DANGED SOONER. The Great Blizzard of 2010 is here in Dogsland.
ReplyDeleteGee, thanks.
MUD, Nyuk! Yeah, I know man...The first year I lived in Durango, CO we set an annual record. I shoveled enough that winter to last me...
ReplyDeletePaul, they've got this new thing called The Weather Channel that you can get on the TeeVee. Regardless, I apologize. Seriously, I think y'all are gonna get a good bit more than we did. Have fun...be sure and post photos of your snowangels.
And, just pray that the Jacktroit airport is open before Junior's flight is scheduled to depart.
Andy! Shut yo' mouf'. The airport shall be open, or I'll leave him outside and drive away.
ReplyDeleteThe snow is still coming down pretty hard right now, too. It might rival 1983. In other words, AGW is too dangerous to let Al Gore live.
yes, that's a heavy frost......... I do envy your winters, but it's hot and humid enough up here(eastcentralillinois)..
ReplyDelete----------------the summers in La would be hellish for me.
---------------were I overly wealthy, I'd summer in Michigan (rural, not Detroit or flint) and winter in several places south of here.......... however, with the computer, I'm a world traveler as it is........
Great pics. Like you, I've seen enough snow to last me the rest of my natural life and well into the next. I DO appreciate the one or two snowfalls we get here on The High Plains of NM... it's just enough to remind me why I don't live Up Nawth any longer. But this year has been a right-royal bee-yotch.
ReplyDeleteHave fun at the wedding!
veriword: fatie. Hey! Google recognized me for my contributions to the blogosphere! Cool.
That's not snow... I once opened my front door to see an imprint of my front door in snow. ...and I left the f%$#*'n shovel in the shed.
ReplyDeleteHi Andy, Was wondering how you were faring. Been to busy to check the Andy Blog the past couple days. We have snow on 3 sides of us here in GA but so far none on us yet. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for tonight, though! Been 39 and raining all day, and the temp is supposed to start dropping any time! Icy roads, lots of accidents and JOB SECURITY!! Anyway, keep your toes warm!
ReplyDeletefshafer, trust me, I understand. But, you'd be surprised how easy the Summer is to tolerate down here. I am a hot weather guy, and truly suffer from this new global warming junk that we keep getting hit with.
ReplyDeleteI can always get "cool" in the summer. We have air conditioning now down here. But, I just can never seem to get "warm" in the winter. I guess it's all in what you get accustomed to.
Sully, I KNOW. I've been through too many REAL snows for my taste. It's kinda like a wussified version of the real thing. Suits me fine, because I am a wuss when it comes to white junk.
Paul, you are probably going to get just about what we did...enough to cover up the brown, and not enough to send morons into the ditches. Hopefully!
*hearty handshake to the groom and a gentle kiss on the bride*
ReplyDeleteEnjoy!
