Humpday afternoon...Sad, Silly, and Somethin' else...

Hey y'all!  Hugs, kisses, yada yada yada...

I've got a couple of things I want to show y'all this afternoon.  Well, it ain't really "after" noon yet, but it will be by the time I get finished showing y'all this stuff.

First off, there is an extremely SAD story locally.  12 year-old Jason Bloxom, a student at North DeSoto Middle School has been found murdered.  The story is quite bizarre.  It seems that Jason and his school mates were on Spring Break, and he was staying overnight at the house of a friend.  Initial reports say that he was last seen about 3 am, "texting" someone on his cell phone.  I will not go into my thoughts on the wisdom of a 12 year-old even having a cell phone, as each situation is different, and this is NOT the time for it.

Some of you local readers, and some of our old friends from the WAY back will remember Ralph Mitchell.  Ralph sent me an e-mail this morning from Mobile, AL about this.  It seems that he worked with the father of this child in the radio biz, and that Ralph's wife went to school with the mother.  It is a terribly sad thing.

There is rattling on The Facebook among Ralph's wife's "Facebook Friends" that the man (and I'll use that term loosely for now) that is in custody for the murder had been stalking the child on The Facebook.  Of course, everything is up in the air right now, and we have no way to know at this point if that is true.

Actually, the cops were right around the corner from Andy's Place yesterday looking for this Sexual Offender suspect (I will not post his photo, nor his name, but if you hit the above link, you can get that info).  He had recently gone to work as a taxi driver for a company within rock-throwing distance from here.

Regardless, it is a VERY SAD thing.  Ralph asked for prayers for the family.  I sent one up, and I'll ask y'all...if you're a praying person...to join me in that.  Damned shame!  I've got a 13-year-old son myself...I just don't know what I'd do...

It doesn't even seem right to go on to the "Silly," or the "Somethin' else" after writing this all out.  So, I won't.  I'll save those for later.

Hold your kids close.

  1. Hold your kids close, indeed. My deepest sympathy and heartfelt prayers go out for this grieving family.

A child-molester cab driver. Holy cow.

  2. I read about that this morning. Just Godawful. The cab company said they couldn't discriminate because the offender got the okay form the police department. I would have found some reason not to hire the degenerate. Let him sue. God bless and comfort that family of the boy who was slain. Just terrible, terrible news.

  3. This story is beyond sad... it's just senseless and incomprehensible. I hope justice is swift.

    My prayers to the family.

  4. Thanks y'all! Yeah, Moogie, Red noted what I was going to.

On the news last night, the owner of the cab company was interviewed. He basically said, "Well, the guy got his cabbie license from the State, and we just go with what they say."

I'm not blaming the owner for hiring the guy...and I'm not ready to blame anybody at the State yet, either. From what I heard, he was a "sex offender" due to having sex with a 13 year-old girl when he was 18. That was a long time ago, and they were both teenagers.

Not making excuses for anybody...I just don't know the policies. Regardless, I don't think this had anything to do with his cab driving job. Heck, this junk happens with bankers, doctors, preachers, etc.

Thanks to all y'all for your prayers. I'm sure the family will feel them.
