  1. Dang, a test.

Roberts, Scalia, Alito, Thomas, Stevens, Kennedy, Ginsburg, Sotomayor, and Breyer.

I had to think hard on Breyer, too.

  2. I had about 5 of them in my head when I clicked on comment. Thanks to Paul, I didn't have to think too much more.

  3. Yeah TD, Breyer stumped me for a looooong while. Until I clicked on the article. ;)

Jim, it's harder than people think, huh?

  4. I may have gotten one or two if I spent some time thinking about it. I have to say, though, there is no part of me whatsoever that is thinking "man, I should really know this."

  5. I missed Stevens and Breyer. And I'm with S-Andy. The answer to this question would only be of value in Trivial Pursuit.

  6. S-Andy, sure you'd have gotten Clarence Thomas, and probably Sotomayor since she's been in the news most recently.

Buck, if it were only true that "trivial" is correct. As currently allowed to operate, any ONE of these Justices often has more power than Congress, State & local governments, and the Executive Branch combined...if they decide to act on something...and are the "swing vote" on any particular issue.

  7. Ummm... forgive me, but how would knowing their names change the way they rule/vote/write their opinions? I'm not denying they're important... my mantra during the 2008 election cycle was "Supreme Court. The Supremes, Dummy... The Supremes!" There's NOTHING you or I or anyone else can do about them once they're there. Our only influence is to vote for a guy who will nominate folks WE like. But it's nice to know their names, I suppose.

  8. Hey Buck! I was not chastising...just makin' the purnt of how important those jokers are.

Certainly, knowing their names would not change anything. I just found it interesting that so few are familiar with those that wield so much power.

Heck, I'm a political junkie, and I missed one. And, I had to think a long time to remember Alito's name...I could see his face...knew it was an Italian name...just couldn't bring it to mind.

I just thought it was interesting.

Man, could you imagine how different it would have been with McCain in office? Well, on second thought, Souter & Stevens probably wouldn't have retired.
