I've been through Clovis, I think...

I ran across a post at Theo's Place this morning, and it's been bugging me all day.

I'm pretty sure I traveled through Clovis, California about 3 years ago when I was hauling my #1 son's worthless possessions from Louisiana to his new home in Monterey.  He was stationed at Fort Ord, on assignment from the USAF.

Well, come to think of it, and after looking at The GoobleMaps, I probably did not.  I went through a bunch of that country, and through Bakersfield, Barstow, etc.  Maybe. Fresno, too.  Maybe.  Maybe not.  But, I know I saw signs that would direct one to Clovis, CA.  It is in the Central Valley of CA.  And, it has borne an especially tough burden.

It seems that the City of Clovis has roughly 90,000 residents.  Yet, one High School of many in Clovis, Buchanan High School, has quite a distinction of heroic service in our ongoing wars.

Just pointing you to Theo's post here.  Follow the link to the LA Times article that he provides.

Buchanan High School, in Clovis, CA endures loss of 7 troops in Iraq, and Afghanistan, Most from any school in California.

  1. That's the invisible California that I love. If you get out of Hollywood and SF, you will meet the most American of Americans.
