Mensa Teaser...Oh crud! I forgot it is Thursday...

What is the total of New Cuyama?

Sorry, Corch Mayor!  I'm letting you down...

No Mensa Teaser today.  I've got a headache from the sweltering heat, and my brain just can't come up with anything...and my vision is blurry, so I can't read these that are already written down.

You're gonna have to help me, Team.  If you've got a really hard question, or riddle, or mind puzzle, post it on your blog, and I'll post a link to it.  Or, if you don't have a blog, drop one in the comments, or g-mail it to me at justandysplace@gmail.com.

I apologize, y'all!  I know y'all have been looking forward to this all week.

I suck.

  1. How many Thursdays did you think this week was gonna have? Do you need a tissue, jackwagon??

  2. Nyuk! Inno, it's a loooooong story. The days all seem to run together lately.

Jackwagon! I know I've heard that somewhere before, but can't quite place it. I'm gonna use that one.

  3. As the Mad Hatter said to Alice: "Why is a raven like a writing desk?"

  4. Apropos of nuttin'... but I've been through New Cuyama many times. CA Rt 166 is a FINE biking/sports car road and is the quickest way to get to I-5 from Lompoc, where I useta live once upon a time in the way-back. I know: TMI.

What strikes me as odd as I don't know where OLD Cuyama is.

  5. Barry: You are probably the only living human that knows the answer to that one, so I won't tease others with it.

But, thanks for the idear. We want "hard," not "impossible."

So, why is a raven like a writing desk?

  6. Small world, huh Buck? So, is the total of New Cuyama really 4663, or is that some worldwide computer legend?

I looked for a grand total of about 14 seconds on The Gooble, and can't seem to find a Cuyama over in the Old Country that this place was named after like other "New" places.

The Wiki says it's named for "clams." So, maybe that's where all the new clams got harvested. Dunno!

I never saw this sign, if that's what you're asking. But if you're serious about the population... I'd go with 562 along with a generous pinch o' salt. New Cuyama is your typical wide spot in the road, albeit with a nice cafe. And it's a looong danged way from anywhere ya might find clams.

  8. 2 beer, or 2 beers?

Is there even an answer for this?

  9. Oh yeah! There is an answer for it. I just don't know which...you've got me stumped, Corch.
