...where you are bone weary from the week, and all you want to do is sit in a chair, staring at a television screen watching college football, and you find out on Friday afternoon that you are being called in to work on Saturday, and Sunday?
Me too...

Andy, I hate to hear that. I'm hoping to catch the game today later. No offense, but GO STATE!!!!
ReplyDeleteAiiieee. I feel yore pain I have a few of those work-on-the-weekend tee shirts. More than a few, actually. Hang in there, Andy.
ReplyDeleteI'm with ya, bro'. Today is the first day I've had both jobs off since mid July. Peace-n-quiet? Nah, screaming grandbaby...
ReplyDeleteThat just plain sucks. We'll watch them for ya. Here's one quick hint -- that odor you detect is scorched Ugga fur!
ReplyDeleteMaybe Mrs. Andy will make you some sort of fabulous sympathy dessert!
That actually describes a significant percentage of my adult working life...so I know it sucks! Hang in there, buddy...
ReplyDeleteYeah, I hate that too.
ReplyDeleteMy situation is usually more that I've got a deliverable and it has to be done no matter what that means, so I end up having to make myself work weekends. Last weekend I worked probably 20 hours on a key deliverable for Monday morning....
ReplyDeleteThis week I had another deliverable due Friday morning so had to work until they shut the system down at midnight, and then get up at 5:00 so I could work on it until 9:00 when it was due...
My job is real flexible. I can work from home pretty much any time I want, so long as I get my 50 hours in.
Intel assigns work in terms of 'deliverables' too...and they are typically lined up in a relentless stream deadlines and long days...
ReplyDeleteYeah, ain't it great? Nothing like after a long hard week, sitting down to watch a game and some idiot decides to burn their house down or roll their car or something like that. DVR helps, but invariably, some other idiot will blab the score to you. Yeah, I feel your pain!
ReplyDeleteTwo words why I left the vaunted practice of law: billable hours.

Here it is, Monday, and it looks like you are still having one of those Saturdays.
