.
Sure, Thanksgiving comes first! But, I've got Christmas on my mind right now. Those of you that know me well know that I'm not a big Christmas guy. Never have been, really. Even less so as I grow older.
It's a long boring deal that I won't subject y'all to.
But, last Christmas, I almost had all my boys home for Christmas. The only one that couldn't make it was #2 son. Now, #2 son is living back here, so he'll enjoy the season with kin. But, #1 son won't.
No, #1 son is deploying to Iraq on Dec. 12. In fact, he's boots on the ground in Fayetteville, NC right now getting all prepped up at Fort Bragg. I ran across this Christmas card at Buck's joint, and it really grabbed me. Of course, #1 son won't see the snowy Dec. 25 that our WWII heroes did. And, even though he'll likely be in the air on his task, it won't be in a plane like this.
And, he won't be home.
He'll be half a world away.
And, I pray he'll be of good cheer.

I know Fayetteville and Ft. Bragg all too well.
ReplyDeleteBest of luck to your son, Andy.
Pepper spent quite a lot of time at Bragg.
ReplyDeletePraying for you all.
Yep... our best thoughts* go with SN1, Andy. And thanks for the link.
ReplyDelete* coz we haven't got that prayer thing down.
We don't do a big Christmas either. But I have been known to send out a card or two. With SN1 deploying, you will have to let us in on his address. We can bombard him with cards.
