Four for Four!

.

Hey y'all!  Hugs, kisses, yada yada yada...

I got word a couple of days ago that it just might be possible that we would have ALL FOUR SONS home for Christmas.  It has been at least 8 years since we pulled that off here at Andy's Place.

It is a very long story that I'll tell  y'all about later...but, eldest son is en route from Omaha (alone...thank you, Jesus).  In fact, he is approximately one hour from here as I type this.

I actually went into the attic, and pulled down the Crimmus decorations this morning.  The Mrs. fired up the oven, and started baking cookies...put the Christmas music on the CD player...and we've been having a high old time.

Everybody that knows me, knows that I'm a real Scrooge about Christmas.  And, getting in to the Christmas Spirit seems to come later each year.

This is surely a "record."  Dec. 20 is about the latest I've ever really caught a case of it.  But, I got it.

I am bracing myself for it all to fall apart, because I'm 99% sure it will.  But that would be a good thing, too.  It's high time for resolution of lots of things.  It's gonna likely be a big mess for #1 son, and the rest of us.

But, we've got our sleeves rolled up, and are spoiling for it.

Merry Christmas, y'all!

  1. Right on Andy! There's probably nothing better than being able to have all of the kids home for the holidays. Glad to hear #1 son forgot his extra bag at the airport.
Know what? Focus on the 1%. That'll make it work out.

  3. Missing baggage might be worth 95% or so of potential holiday misfires! It looks like Skipping Christmas has been foiled yet one more time! Enjoy the family -- and MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

  7. Hey everybody! Thanks for the good wishes, and warm friendship this year. I hope y'all have a wonderful one, too.

Deb, Glad to hear #1 son forgot his extra bag at the airport. Nyuk! Actually, he drove. I told him to bring the bag with him, and leave it at a gas station in Bartlesville or something.

But, he's too much of a gentleman to do that. Sometimes I wish I hadn't raised these boys so good...

  9. This is good news. "Home for the Holidays" is the BEST thing in life, bar none. (For the record: "holidays" means Thanksgiving, too)

I'm with Deb: focus on that one percent.

  10. Andy, glad things are coming together and you finally got the old Christmas Spirit rolling. I understand the deal about getting all 4 sons under one roof; we only have the one child (son) but the 5 grandsons are another problem. We usually don't get that to happen at home but sometimes manage it in a restaurant after a drive of a couple hundred miles; still, it's very good to have them all together. Very good. So hang in there, Andy. And Merry Christmas to you and your whole family!

  11. I put the tree together last night during the football game. It's not decorated yet. The wife's been baking cookies and making candy all week though. Which is great since I just got diagnosed with diabetes.

    Yay Christmas.

  12. Cosmic, I guess not having any little ones around, and other distractions (like family struggles...and diabetes) kinda knocks the excitement level down several notches. I know it has for me.

If it makes you feel any better, I didn't actually eat any of the cookies. The boys did, and the rest are reserved for gifts to our neighbors and siblings. We're cheap gift-givers.

Mrs. Who, Dan, and Buck...thanks a brazillian! Mur Criummus back at y'all!

  15. Hi Roses! Thanks...

And, TD, ...and really to all of y'all, it went about like I thought it would.

He got home Monday afternoon dog tired, visited a few hours then sacked out...spent Tuesday with us...about 11 am this morning the phone call came.

Back to Omaha. Long story that I really don't feel like telling right now. He took off about 12:30 this afternoon.

Might be back, but probably not.

Merry Christmas, anyway! I appreciate y'all's love and kind wishes.
