Is it just me, or does anybody else despise Blogger's new CAPTCHA deal?

.

Here is an example of what I've been encountering.

Heck, you may as well have a Typepad blog!

Look, I'm not in the business of telling folks how to run their blogs.  But, it's really okay to drop the word verification deal now.  Blogger's spam filter is dang good!

Sure, you'll still get an e-mail with the spam comment on it.  And sure, anyone that has subscribed to comments on that post will get it.  But, it's a minor inconvenience compared to what Blogger has come out with now to stop "robots."

"Robots?"  Really?  Lookit, Globber...can't y'all come up with something original for a change?

Just askin'...

  1. The only spam I've received lately is from SEO morons and people that are link beggars. They actually type in the captcha crap. So I might as well disable it.

  4. I killed WV. It used to be fun, what with the weirdness and all. Now it's just a giant PITA.

  5. Ain't it the truth, Buck! Back in the old days (a couple of days ago), word verifications could be more entertaining than the post.

Now they just suck. Man, I pine for the good old days. I've got a whole folder full of WVs that made me guffaw.

These new ones just suck...kinda like how I felt when Professional Wrestling went fake in the 90s.

  8. Never turned mine on and never felt the urge to.

Fully agreeing with Jim's admiration of Blogger's spam filter.

  9. Lou..."whinin'???" You must be from Red River, NM, currently living in Oklahoma. You just gave yourself away with the colloquialism.

Jim, I am so WAY glad that you dropped that WV deal you experimented with for a while about a million blog years ago.

Harvey, just a word to the wise here. Don't agree with Jim...if you know what's good for you!
