BARKSDALE AFB CREW HONORED

I live less than a mile from Barksdale Air Force Base. It is a great honor to my city to be the home of the B-52s. They are impressive flying machines. And some pretty impressive people fly them.

Entire article from The Times of Shreveport:
Lost Barksdale Crew Honored At Arlington National Cemetery

Five Barksdale Air Force Base fliers killed in the crash of their B-52 bomber near Guam in July were honored Friday through a burial service at Arlington National Cemetery.

The crew, which had the call sign Raider 21, perished with a sixth member from the command staff at Andersen Air Force Base, the Guam air power bastion wheir their bomber, "Louisiana Fire," had deployed to be part of a continuous bomber presence in the western Pacific.

The service with full military honors, described by Arlington representatives as "burial of the commingled remains recovered from the accident," included escorts, a band, an honor guard, a horse-drawn caisson to carry a casket, a bugler to play taps and a flyover by fellow members of the 20th Bomb Squadron at Barksdale.

Rest in peace, gentlemen. Thank you for your service.
