Well, Barack Hussein Obama is now our President-Elect. I've got to admit that I am surprised. I had just refused to believe the polls ahead of the election. I was not willing to admit to myself that my America had swung so far left, or felt so safe in this unsafe world as to elect a man with Obama's obvious failings.
But it has, and it does.
I wish Obama success... I hope he grows into the job of Commander in Chief. I hope that he wisely uses our military to keep us safe at home, and liberate the oppressed.
But I fear that he is going to have to grow some thicker skin. A good Commander in Chief must have skin like an elephant, not an onion.
And, I wish him failure... I hope that he fails to socialize health care, to raise taxes, to shut down energy production, to pass cap and trade policies, to redistribute wealth, to appoint radical leftist judges to the Supreme Court, to re-institute "The Fairness Doctrine," to confiscate the retirement savings of US citizens, and to "fundamentally change America" as he has promised.
I pray that the realities of the job (and perhaps some wise people in Congress...I know it's a stretch) will derail his Marxist plans.
I thought about it this morning...At 49, I have had the honor of voting for four men that I consider true heroes. Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, Bob Dole, and now John McCain. Each of these men served their nation (and the concept of liberty) bravely. Very few of the billions of humans on this planet have had such an honor...and very few ever will.
I hope that I have such an honor again before I die...and before the Republic does.
Well...gotta get to work...
