The polls open at 6:00 am in Louisiana. I decided to go on early and beat the crowds. I got there at 6:03, and the line was about 30 deep.
One poll worker that I know told me, "we've never opened with a line before." There are two machines in my polling place, and I only had to wait about 20 or 25 minutes. Voted McCain for President, John Kennedy for US Senate, and "no" on all 7 Constitutional amendments. (My US House race won't be decided until next month...Hurricane Gustav messed up our primary schedule).
But I saw something I've never seen before. Of the 30 or so people ahead of me in line, at least 6 of them had to be instructed by the poll workers as to how to use the machines. Take what you will from that observation.
Mac might be in trouble...
