The Earth Hour Just Keeps Rollin' Along...

Oh man...this is gettin' more better and better by the Earth Hour!

The Earth Hour has made it's way to the Mountain Time Zone (MTZ).  Now, all those folks in that somewhat obscure Time Zone can now do their part to save the Earth from total human destruction!  I know y'all are proud...

I've snagged a couple of shots from the worldwide computer to show y'all just how goregeous it all is!

Lookie here at Albuquerque, NM at 8:29 pm MDT...or MTZ...or whatever...

I gotta stop here a minute for a personal note.  I never shall forget the first time that I drove out West.  I was in the car with The Mrs., a friend and his wife, and eldest son who was 7 months old at the time (he's 29 now...so it's been WAY back).  As you drive across the NM desert at night, you don't see nothing!  Forever!  And, I was almost completely asleep at the wheel...

But, I topped a hill, and saw the lights of Albuquerque.  I'll swear, that was one of the most beautiful sights I had ever seen.  I thought to myself, "Goodness!  Such an odd thing...a thriving city...in the middle of nowhere...all these lights...how did they do that?"   I truly "got it" when I heard Jim Glaser's classic, "The Lights of Albuquerque." But I digress...this is about saving The Earth!

Albuquerque,  NM - 8:31 pm MDT

See!  That is A LOT better.  It's kinda like it was when the Hopis & Navajos had little campfires at night.  The Earth was good then.  It was REAL good.  I mean, they had hospitals and junk...I think.  Probably.  I know they had Kivas & junk.  It was good back before we started using electricity and all.

Denver, Colorado - 8:29 pm MDT...

Heathens!  How dare they destroy the glorious Rockies by planting a planet-killing metropolis there?  Thank God, somebody got the message about The Earth Hour...

Denver, Colorado - 8:31 pm MTZ...

Evidently, there are still some "Climage Change Deniers" in Denver.  We shall see about this!  I think we all ought to e-mail the Goracle, and the WWF, and BozObama himself and tattle on Denver.  I mean, we can excuse New Orleans because they obviously didn't hear about it.  But, Denver?  Nah...they knew.  Earth destroying bastards!

  1. Oh shit, oh dear. I missed it... ALL of it. I fell asleep on the couch after dinner and slept thru the whole thing. It's good to see the residents of ABQ did their bit, though. I'm SO proud! (heh)

Dropping down into ABQ at night... especially if you're east-bound on I-40... really is amazing. It's as you said: miles and miles of sheer inky nothingness and then a blaze of light. Breathtaking.
