But I ain't worried for him now. Bill finally unwound this week. I don't know if y'all saw this, but you really ought to. Now Bubba starts out just a little bit miffed, and acts like he don't know what's going on...but as it goes along you can tell that he's really got the reds at this reporter fellow asking him these questions.
Now, Bubba ain't used to reporters treating him like regular folks (why, that's a crime for Heaven's sake). But it's been happening more and more over the last couple of years. And I think that this might have been the camel that broke old Bill's straw.
Anger is a hard master. I have known for years that Bill is just full of anger. I believe that most of his human weaknesses stem from old anger from his childhood. I ain't no Dr. Phil or nothing, but I know that if we don't get our anger dealt with it will sure dog us our whole lives.
Here's the video right straight from the scene of the crime...
Personally, I think Bill's got the reds for two reasons:
A) He's playing second fiddle to the Mrs., and they're not real fond of each other anyway, and...
2) He don't get a pass from reporters like he used to.
There's a whole New York Times article about it right here.
But a revulant quote from the article:
"David R. Gergen, a Harvard professor of public service who has been an adviser to presidents of both parties, including Mr. Clinton. “He is a bit like Mount Vesuvius: he’ll just erupt, but then it’s over, because the good thing about his temper is that he doesn’t bear grudges.”
Aides and advisers to both Clintons say he tends to explode in anger more often and more fiercely than his wife, whose temper is usually described as that of a slow-burn and clipped-tone variety.
His so-called “purple fits” and “earthquakes” have been a constant to those who have worked with him. Some have dealt with it by avoiding him, others by simply responding with silence. One senior White House aide, George Stephanopoulos, who was often a target of Mr. Clinton’s fury, has written of taking an antidepressant because the vicissitudes of the job were so intense."
So I'm feeling better now for Bubba. You know we all need to blow off some steam from time to time. I know it always makes me feel better.
Man, wouldn't you love to have been a fly on the wall when Hillary got hold of him later on!
