No "BUT" this time. Well, Valentines Day is coming up, and the Mrs. tried dropping a (let me get my word book...) subtle hint on me.
She said, "Andy, my old lawnmower is just about worn out. I could barely get it started at the end of last year. Lowes has a really nice Toro on sale. It's the new kind that throws the grass out to the side, and pulls itself while you walk behind it. Do you think we might invest in a new mower?"
It's a good time to start planning for lawn maintenance. We've got winter weeds and early Spring clover all over the yard. She always thinks ahead...that's one reason I love her.
Well, I could tell right away that she was angling for a new lawnmower for Valentines Day. But I told her that "a lawnmower is more like for an Anniversary gift." (We've got our 29th coming up in April, and I thought I might put her off until then).
But her mind was set on a new Toro side discharge self-puller. So she told me that she would just "buy one with her own money!" So she took the truck up to Lowes and came back with a new Toro lawnmower in a box.
I wasn't gonna give her the satisfaction of me being excited about it, so I just stayed in the house while she was assembling it. But I did watch through the blinds. I'll tell you, that gal can sure assemble things...another reason that I love her.
Well, she got the new one put together, made one pull on the cord, and it fired right up. She experimented with it in the front yard, and had a big smile on her face.
So, I decided to test the fates. I walked outside and took one walk behind it while it pulled itself...man, that is cool! So I shut the Toro off (all you gotta do is just quit gripping), and I told the Mrs. "Happy Valentines Day Baby! I might help you with the mowing this year!"
That gal threw her arms around me, and gave me a big, wet kiss on the mouth...right there in front of the neighbors! That's another big reason I love her...unabashed affection for me.
So I'm off the hook for Valentines Day. I've got a small gesture in mind that I'll tell y'all about closer to the holiday...stay tuned.
Now I've got to convince her that she wants a big-screen plasma TV for our Anniversary. She's got alot more money than I do, and once she settles on an idea, it's gonna happen! That's maybe the reason I love her most!
