ROY SCHEIDER DEAD AT 75

Actor Roy Scheider died Sunday at the University of Arkansas Medical Sciences Hospital in Little Rock. The whole story is here.

There is some controversy about the cause of his death. It is reported that his wife said that he died from a staph infection, and that could well be true. Thousands of people die from staph every year...mostly contracted in the hospital.

But it appears that he was suffering from multiple myeloma. My father-in-law suffered with this, and eventually died from complications due to the cancer.

I know that all cancer is tough to deal with, but I really believe that multiple myeloma is the granddaddy of them all. It is the most brutal, painful, and putrid thing imaginable to suffer with. I hate to say this, because I don't know how tough it is to die with staph...but God probably did him a favor if his cancer wasn't manageable.

I know that Scheider was a leftie, but I wouldn't wish multiple myeloma on Hugo Chavez. What it does to the body is truly demonic.

If you ever know someone that is diagnosed with multiple myeloma, recommend the University of Arkansas Hospital to them. The Sam Walton foundation has donated multiple millions to the hospital because Sam died with multiple myeloma. They have probably the best research and treatment facility in the US...maybe the world.

Oh yea...Roy was a good actor. I liked his work. Rest In Peace...
