WHERE HAVE ALL THE HONEY BEES GONE?

They are all at my shop!

If any of you get computer letters, read computer pages, listen to George Noory, or get a newspaper, you know that honeybees don't exist anymore. But don't try to lay that trash on me!

A year or two ago, the current "scare the poop out of you" story was that honeybees were going extinct. Yes...all the computer letters, and doomsday books were quoting Elmer Einstein, "If honeybees disappear, mankind will disappear in 4 years." Well, it was a lie that Elmer ever said that...just like a good portion of many computer letters that you get in your computer mailbox.

I feel pretty certain that the baby we call "Spring" has finally been birthed here in Louisiana. It is just fabulously gorgeous! It is about 78 degrees today, with 81 forecast for tomorrow. I'll tell you what, if somebody tries to shove that baby back in, the Mrs. is gonna be MAD!!! It will not be pretty when she finds the yahoo that did it...consider yourselves warned.

I always know Spring has officially been delivered when the red wasps, bumble bees, and various unnamed flying creatures make an appearance. Well, they are all out in force today...along with their formerly extinct pals...the honeybees.

In my business I use a considerable amount of bees wax. In the course of our business, the wax is heated, melted, etc. So I know more than a few beekeepers, and a little bit about the honeybee business. In fact, I knew a fellow that was on the "Presidents' National Honey Board." (Can you believe there's something like that? Well, there is.)

When the "big honeybee catastrophe" came out in the press a year or two ago, predicting the end of life as we know it, I started asking around. None of my suppliers really knew much about it other than what they had read in computer letters, or heard on the news, or conspiracy-theory-radio.

Sure enough, there were some areas of the country that experienced reduced honeybee population...just like what happened in the 1950s. But there is an abundance of bees wax, honey, and I can tell you for sure an abundance of honeybees. They are all over my place...they smell the melted bees wax and look for a place to hive around here every Spring.

If any area of the country is short of honeybees...Y'all come! Come on and get 'em...do Mother Nature a favor and me at the same time.
