I'M SORRY...THIS IS JUST TOO "QUEER" !!!!!

Even Rednecks try to be really nice when using terms about folks that are out of the "mainstream" of society. But I'm sorry! This is just "queer" beyond queerness.

When I heard this story on the radio this morning I thought it was a (let me get my word book...) belated April Fools joke. So I looked it up on the computer, and it seems to be true. It has been a good little while since I have had a full-blown case of the reds, but I feel 'em rising up on me quick.

Let me pre-tell y'all (if you don't know already) 3 things about my beliefs.

1) I am a Libertarian. I believe that we own our own bodies, and should be allowed to do whatever we want to with them.

B) I believe that homosexual men, and lebaneese women are born that way.

3) I am dead-set against the death penalty. I'm against it on religious, social, and judicial system reasons (which I will not go into right now).

All that being said, I am about as bumfuzzled as I can be about this story. There is a queer in prison in Massachusetts for murdering his wife, that has been trying for years to get the Commonwealth of Mass. to pay for his sex change operation. Now, that's not such a big deal...

Prisoners with "nothing to do, and all day to do it" regularly file all kinds of grievances, and counter-law suits, and such. And the laws are so ignorant that judges actually have to look at their garbage.

But this one is just too queer...not only what the suit asks for, but actually how far this queer boy has gotten with it in the Massachusetts Penal System (no pun intended).

Here is the AP article: I just put the whole article in this blog post, but made a link to the article so y'all would know I ain't kidding. I will comment as the article progresses.

Inmate Sex-Change Request Gets New Look

BOSTON (AP) — The new commissioner of the state's prison system said Tuesday he plans to re-examine the case of a convicted killer suing the Department of Correction to try to get a sex-change operation.

Prison officials have strenuously opposed a request from Michelle Kosilek to have the surgery, saying it could make her a target for sexual assault by other inmates.

Problem #1: This is a guy trying to become a gal that lives in a prison. I mean, ain't everybody fair game in prison to start out with? The Prison officials are worried about it making him/her a "target for sexual assualt." Ignorant to start out the article...

But DOC Commissioner Harold Clarke, who took over the department in November, said he has not decided yet whether to continue to fight Kosilek's request.

"I need to take a look at the information presented before I arrived, and with a fresh set of eyes, closely scrutinize it," Clarke said after a status hearing on Kosilek's federal lawsuit.

Problem #2: According to a few other articles I have read, the Commonwealth has already spent more money fighting this queers' lawsuits than it would have cost them to go ahead on and make him a gal.

Robert Kosilek was sentenced to life in prison for murdering his wife, Cheryl, in 1990. Kosilek legally changed her name to Michelle in 1993 and has been living as a woman in an all-male prison in Norfolk.

Kosilek first sued the Department of Correction in 2000, claiming its refusal to pay for a sex-change operation violates her Eighth Amendment right against cruel and unusual punishment.

Problem #3: This idiot reporter writing the article keeps referring to this Kosilek queer as a "her." As far as I know, "she" still has male equipment. And it is "cruel and unusual" not to cut some guys' package off????? Too ignorant...but this stupid Prison Commissioner is taking it under advisement. Now, Louisiana doesn't do too much right. But could you imagine what would happen if this was going on down here? The Prison Commissioner would be fired on the spot, and he'd be dodging nooses.

In 2002, U.S. District Judge Mark Wolf ruled that prison officials had failed to adequately treat Kosilek's gender identity disorder, but stopped short of ordering the state to allow the sex-change operation. Wolf found that the DOC had not violated Kosilek's Eighth Amendment rights because Kosilek did not prove that the correction commissioner had shown "deliberate indifference" to Kosilek's medical needs.

Kosilek, 58, sued again in 2005, saying the hormone treatments, laser hair removal and psychotherapy she has received since Wolf's 2002 ruling were not enough to relieve her anxiety and depression.

Problem #4: This is where it goes too queer for me. The taxpayers of Massachusetts have paid for "hormone treatments, laser hair removal and psychotherapy" to treat a "gender identity disorder" for a convicted queer murderer. Now, I gotta confess, I know about psychotherapy, and hormones...but I had to do some computer research on "laser hair removal." I'm sorry, it's just too queer! I wonder how a hard-working Boston cop, or firefighter, or teacher feels about their tax dollars going to burn the hair off this queer, wife-murdering, depressed guy/gals' privates!

For the last year, Wolf has been weighing whether to order the DOC to allow the surgery. Several medical experts who testified for Kosilek, as well as several doctors retained by the DOC's health provider, said they believe the surgery is medically necessary for Kosilek, who has twice tried to commit suicide in prison. But other experts hired by the DOC said Kosilek does not need the surgery.

Problem #5: We're looking at a deeply troubled human being here. This guy/gal has tried to kill himself twice. I am against the death penalty, but I believe everybody should have control over their own body (and eternal destination by the way). If this guy/gal wants to "off" him/herself, just go ahead on and give him the needle...or don't stop him/her the next time he/she tries.

Kosilek's request was strenuously opposed by Clarke's predecessor Kathleen Dennehy, an appointee of Republican former Gov. Mitt Romney. Romney's successor, Gov. Deval Patrick, appointed Clarke.

Wolf ordered Clarke to attend Tuesday's hearing after Kosilek's attorneys said they wanted to hear Clarke's position on the case. He is scheduled to testify on May 12.

I'm sorry, the whole deal is just to queer for me to process. I'm gonna go play with the dog. She's still lame from the lawnmower accident. Hey, I might try to teach her how to talk like those dogs in that video I put on the computer a few days back.
