WEEKEND BOWL PICKS...

Well, after my stunningly accurate, and positively certain prediction that Hawaii would would turn Notre Dame to poi...I'm not giving you win/lose on these first two bowls.

I need to apologize to y'all, because in the rush of Christmas activity, I forgot to give y'all my pick for the very exciting, highly anticipated match-up between Florida Atlantic & Central Michigan in the De-Troit Motor City Bowl yesterday. Trust me...somebody won...and somebody look terrible. I'm not sure who sucked, but I know for sure that somebody did. Don't ask me how I know. I just do.

There are three games today, but only two that seem interesting to me.

Champs Sports Bowl
When: Dec. 27, 4:30 p.m., ESPN
Where:
Orlando, Fla.
Who:
Florida State vs. Wisconsin

Emerald Bowl
When:
Dec. 27, 8 p.m., ESPN
Where: San Francisco
Who:
Miami vs. California

Now, I am forced to do something that I have dreaded all bowl season. I have to make a prediction on the stinkin' Independence Bowl. Oh, for the good old days of LSU-Notre Dame, Oklahoma State-Texas A&M, Alabama, Ole Miss, Air Force, Wisconsin, Missouri...

The Indy Bowl is the only college game on Sunday, so at least you'll have some pro stuff to watch. While most of you won't, I reckon I will. I thought about driving over to Independence Stadium to watch the game. It is only a 10 minute drive. You'll be able to park right up next to the stadium, and pick any seat in the house that you want. In fact, probably mid-first quarter you won't even need a ticket.

I think I will, as this is likely to be the last Independence Bowl. I want to say "I was there." Y'all don't get me wrong. I love Louisiana Tech...a fine institution...enjoyed my time there...blahdy bladhy blah... But c'mon. Oh well...

Independence Bowl
When: Dec. 28, 8 p.m., ESPN
Where:
Shreveport, La.
Who:
Northern Illinois vs. Louisiana Tech

Gotta go with Louisiana Tech in what is a 70-mile road trip home game against a bunch of guys from Obamaland/Blagoland, etc. It should be a very exciting game, and I predict the Bulldogs will beat the whatever they ares (Oh, I just found out that they're the Huskies...that's a dog too, I think) from DeKalb, Illinois by 2 points. LA Tech 2 - N. Ill 0

It will be one of the closest Independence Bowls we've ever seen...or will ever see again sadly.

But y'all can still get tickets. Have a good bowling weekend. And if Dallas gets beat by Philadelphia, I will swear off watching the Cowboys ever again! Ever! Humph.
