SPOOKY...

Hey y'all! I was going to do a post about this new line of work I'm thinking of going into. It was gonna be really funny! (well, funny to me anyway)

I have gotten this new toy tool, a printer, scanner, fax, memory card reader dealie that I told you about. I was gonna scan a $10 bill (front and back) then explain how I was gonna be "rich, rich, fabulously wealthy, etc."

So, I put the Hamilton on the scanner, open up the program, start the scan...and halfway through the preview it throws up an error message... "Currency scanning is not supported. Please refer to section-something of US code-something."

Spooky...

I hope the internet don't report me to the Feds. It was just a joke...I swear...

  1. How did it do that? Is there some magic stuff on the paper?

  2. I bet if you tried to scan a Franklin, you would get a little visit from a couple of unsmiling men in bad suits.

  3. Two Dogs: I don't know if there is magic stuff in the paper, or what. But I did a google search and found this: http://mt.rendermouse.com/archives/000052.html

Some guy in the comments says that this technology has been in place for years in printers and scanners.

I started to try to scan old Andy Hamilton again to get the details exactly right...well, wait, let me try it again...

Okay, the error box says, "This application does not support the unauthorized processing of bank note images." Then it directs me to here: http://www.rulesforuse.org

Pretty interesting stuff. I don't think it's in the paper, probably something in my scanner's software that recognizes Andy Hamilton. Dunno for sure.
