There is an underlying spiritual message concerning "forgiveness," which I appreciated. I am a firm believer in forgiveness. One must forgive (others, and their own self) if they wish to live a life in full.
If you look at this film, you will have to see some syndicated TV Judge (I did not know who he is), Dr. Phil (no comment), and Whoopi & the skaggots from The View. But Matt's wife Liz is on there and gets in a good dig about gun rights...so, I was able to hold back my Whoopi vomit.
The best thing about the whole movie-going experience today was that "The Special School" had decided to take a field trip to this film today. Y'all know what I'm talking about. You have seen "The Special School" field trips in your community. You know...there's like 12 kids, and 25 adults hauling them around to do stuff. In fact, I had run across this particular group a couple of times at Wal-Mart on Fridays...I reckon they're trying to teach these children about going to stores, and movies and all.
Each time I run across these groups I want to hit my knees and thank God for capable children. My boys did stupid, and foolish things...but I always knew that they were capable and would one day survive on their own.
Anyway, there was a whole group of special children there. And they were having a big old time...laughing...giggling...repeating the lines they thought were really funny. And I'll swear, I had a big old time listening to 'em. They would laugh at almost anything, and that made me grin.
There were one or two funny lines in the film, but all in all most of it was unremarkable. So, as I said, I wasn't disappointed. Oddly, The Mrs. was. She is a Tyler Perry fan and came out with a "ho-hum...it was okay" attitude. But the lunch we had at Joe's Crab Shack before the film was outstanding.
My recommendation. Don't waste the $7. Wait 'til it comes out on DVD, and then don't rent it.
