WHERE IN THE WORLD HAS ANDY BEEN?

I'm glad you asked.

I know that I have been disappointingly silent, quite possibly causing all 7 of you that read Andy's Place great consternation. But not to worry...I is heauh!

No, after dropping about 3 inches of rain per day for what seems like forever, God finally turned the spigot off long enough for me to get some badly needed junk done around my crappy-looking place. Being out of the virtual world for even a few days can really clog you up. My Google reader is showing 842 posts...Shazzaam...I reckon I'll clear 'em out, and just hit my pals.

This is a photo of a crappy side porch at Andy's Place. This is the porch that will soon be covered by a new 16 x 9 foot awning (the awning guy is behind too, due to the daily deluges).

On the right you will see a door. It is an ugly old door to the office which we do not use. In fact, you can't even get to it from inside the office (long story). I had a brainstorm. I asked The Mrs., "Why don't we just paint that door blank white...windows, door knob, mail slot and all...and then cover it with some white vinyl lattice?" She agreed that it would be a good idea.

Now, you may notice on the very right a window to my office. You will notice a 60-year-old venetian blind that is broken and looks like crap. So, we must throw them away and replace them. (That's what got me on my two day office clean-up. Those pretty white blinds let in a way bunch of light, and reveal just how filthy a slob I am.)

So, to Lowes I go. And I realized that my lattice-covered office door was gonna look so pretty that the crappy looking storm door would look even crappier...so a new storm door is in order. And of course, the kitchen door itself looked like crap, so it must be sanded and painted.

So, most of a day was spent on that project.

Don't it purty? Pay no attention to the wires hanging there. They will be hidden up around the awning underneath a vinyl cover after it is installed.

So, I had some lattice left over, and The Mrs. spent a good bit of a day sanding, priming, and painting a real nice old jute bottom porch rocker. The danged thing was purple...purple I say! Somebody gave it to her, and now it's just as pretty as a picture.

So, I decided to pull out the saw table & build a nice little plant table for the porch. She was impressed. I guess. Maybe.

While I was out back working on it she came out and asked me, "Andy, what are you stewing about?" She knows that I make myself busy when I'm stewing. I told her that I love her more than life itself, but "THAT IS A STUPID QUESTION."

She laughed. She knows what I'm stewing over. God, I love her...

Don't it purty?

And oh man, has the Mrs. been mowing SOME grass after the God water finally stopped! She's got 6 yards to do this Summer...two at Daddy's apartments, ours, my son's fiance next door (my son is leaving next week for 6 months, but I'll tell y'all about it next week), The Mrs. In-law's, and one other widow woman who's got emphysema.

She has needed a WHOLE lot of supervision...so that's kept me busy, too.

So, it's been a lot of work around here, but dadgummit, it has been so gorgeous that you don't mind. It's cool for late May in Northwest Louisiana...been about 50 in the morning, and high 70's with glorious sunshine in the afternoons.

Makes you glad to be alive! Just a couple of pictures from the yard, and I'll let y'all go. Y'all don't worry...I'm okay...except for that crying a lot lately thing.

Oh, you can see one of my Rubbermaid Storage Container tomatoes on the left. Heh! I've got 11 maters on the vine now. I can't barely wait.

I'll tell y'all, The Mrs. has two green thumbs...I just love her.

  3. TD & Staci: Yes, I spend a good bit of time enjoying the side patio.

That patio is a story in itself. Hey, I think I'll do a post on it, since everybody else has all the politics handled...
