I gave up the game of golf about 25 years ago. I had to choose between golf, and my Christianity...if you know what I mean.
Just in case you missed it...
A restaurant manager from Provo Utah, Jason Hargett, entered one of those "Million Dollar Hole In One" things. He was actually not on top of his game, nursing an injured wrist.
But he was registered, so he borrowed a 9-iron from his brother and let 'er rip!

I never gave up the game of golf; I just haven't used the clubs for anything other than closet 'hangers' for rogue clothing in going on 4 years now.
ReplyDeleteI always contended that I needed to pursue a couple things in my life that I could never master or fathom, but it might be fun trying.
I chose women and golf.
Never got a hole in one, though I came whisker close twice (in one case I had to hear it from witnesses, 'cuz it was a blind shot over a boulder). Were I in that contest, I can tell you that I would have sent the ball 90 degrees right of the friggin' green, because the more important the shot, the more apt I was to sent it to places far, FAR away from the target.
Prolly a good thing I'm not entrusted with national security...
I can honestly report that I got a hole-in-one at a putt-putt course one time......
ReplyDeleteI didn't think about putt-putt ;)
ReplyDeleteMy poor departed dad played golf pretty much his whole life and never once made an eagle. I've never really even got close to a hole in one, although I've put a ball within three feet of the hole a few times on short par threes. My best shot at an eagle was on a long par 5 on Querbes golf course in Shreveport where I hit over the trees into the fairway on the other side and had a three iron to the green where I put it about 8 feet from the hole, then missed the eagle putt....
ReplyDeleteMade birdie though...
No eagles, a few birdies...and some really ridiculous shots. Actually, more of those than I care to count up LOL
ReplyDeleteI gave it up one afternoon when I drove 12 (count 'em) straight balls into the lake on the 7th at Eastwood.
ReplyDeleteMy driver is somewhere in the pine trees between the 7th &9th fairways.
Another of our foursome also quit...on the same hole. His drive struck a pine tree, and landed about 40 yards behind the tee box. His next shot went into the water.
We walked off and left the other two REAL golfers to enjoy their afternoon.
