"Go West, Young Man!"

Well, Horace Greeley didn't say "Go West, OLD MAN!" But I'm is anyhow! Did you know that Greeley, Colorado changed it's name to honor Horace? Bet you didn't! But you probably did.

I'm headed to West Texas at dawn...gonna hitch up Nellie & Jack...then me, The Mrs., and #4 son is all heading to San Angelo, TX to see eldest son (now 29) graduate from Cryptology School at Goodfellow AFB (I understand that they named the Base after a really good fellow...nyuk! Aaaaaahhhhhh... I just kill me!!!!!)

It has been over two years since I put my arms around that boy man, and I'm thirsty for a hug. His Momma is flat out "parched" for one. Man, I miss him.

Many of you that visit Andy's Place know some of what he has had to deal with. It has been a LONG, HARD RIDE... Just becoming a Mandarin orange Linguist in the U.S. Air Force was tough enough. Then they shoulda' throwed a 45-yard-penalty flag for "triple piling on" with what he's had to deal with in his personal life... Well, I'm telling ya', he's made of sturdy stuff!!! (Definitely got it from his Momma.)

He only has one more school to attend before he's finished. It is a Survival School up in Washington (State). Judging from what he's been through, "Survival" will not be a biggie for him. He can probably give the instructors a lesson or two.

Everybody that he is graduating with has received their orders. They are almost all being stationed in Hawaii.

But Dean lucked out! He's headed to the midwest paradise of Omaha, Nebraska! Now, who could ask for more? Who?...I ask ya'! He will be stationed at Offutt AFB....most likely for two or three years before heading to Asia. That is, unless the chinks align completely with the NORKS, and declare all-out war on Alaska. We shall see...

Regardless, I'm going silent for a few days. Y'all have a good week! The Mrs. has convinced me to take the camera to snap photos of the town of San Angelo. I hear it's just gorgeous! I'll be sure and give y'all the whole photo-log when the wagon pulls back into Louisiana.

I love all of y'all. I really do! (Except for Mr. Anonymous that continues to insist that I am overly-affectionate toward negroes...and that I "do it" with my mother. Well, I love him, too. I just wish he'd take his potty-mouthed personal projections elsewhere.)

P.S. If you get a chance, eat at Miss Hatties downtown S.A. It'll give you something to comment on when you get back!

  7. Thanks everybody! I really mean it. I felt your love and prayers. It was...well...REALLY GOOD to see my oldest son. And, it was so humbling in so many ways. I'll tell y'all all about it when I can collect my thoughts.

And Paul, if I had read your comment about going to Miss Hatties, I wouldn't have wasted my time and money at the Shogun, or the pizza joint. Sigh...
