Pretty cool video...

Hey y'all! Hugs, kisses, yada yada yada...

I was searching The YouTube for some videos of Elvis Presley on the Louisiana Hayride. There are some fairly decent ones out there. I grew up occasionally going to the Louisiana Hayride, which was a Saturday night music show at the Municipal Auditorium in Shreveport that aired on KWKH radio, and was hosted by the legend, Frank Page.

The Hayride referred to itself as "The Cradle Of The Stars," because so many huge country music stars got their start there. Elvis was one of them...arguably the biggest of them all. The Hayride was never quite on par with The Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, but it was a real springboard for a lot of talented hicks and chicks.

Well, here's their computer page...go take a look at it. One of 'em, I'm kin to, and met several of the others that performed there when I was a kid.

Anyway, I didn't snag any of the Elvis stuff at the Hayride. But I did come across this gem, that was shot in Lubbock, Texas in 1955. No singing...just a Hall of Fame in the making...

BTW, the young guitarist that Elvis pops on the head is the legendary Shreveport guitarist James Burton, who still hosts his annual "James Burton Guitar Festival" that attracts the best of the best year in and out.
