I'm not going to pick any winners or losers today. I'm just gonna make a prediction...
On the surface, week 11 of the College Football season seems to be the first real yawner yet. There are no "marquis" match-ups, as we have had up to now. But, this weekend is likely to bring us some real shockers. I'm talking like BYU beating Oklahoma kind of shockers.
I look for almost all the ranked teams to struggle against far inferior opponents. We may see upsets of Florida, Alabama, TCU, Boise State, USC, and even LSU.
It pains me to even contemplate that Louisiana Tech could well go in to Baton Rouge, and spoil the season for my beloved Tigers. But they could. We're hurt, and let down from the 'Bama loss. Charles Scott is out for the season, and it looks like we've got the second string QB up to bat tonight. LA Tech almost pulled one out against the powerful offensive machine of Boise State. They are not as poor as their record.
You will note that in my list of potential upsets, I omitted Texas. They are playing Baylor. 'Nuf said!
So, while on the surface this seems like a good day to cut grass instead of being sequestered in my five 52" screen TV media room, I reckon I'll watch. The grass ain't growing that fast anyhow.
Enjoy the games. Promise me you won't break nothing if your team loses. Shalom, y'all...

Does OU even play today? Heh heh, you know I know better. Maybe we can get one over in the "W" column, rather than the "L". I hope.
ReplyDeleteMy season sucks. I'm a long-time Irish fan (The Second Mrs. Pennington graduated from ND in '78 and Joe Montana was a classmate.) but I should say "long suffering" coz the last two or three years have sucked. Still and even, we like who we likes, eh?
ReplyDeleteI may not get to watch this evening's game... as regional coverage will likely feature TTU vs OK State... neither of whom ring my bell.
Buck, my sympathies go out to you. I'm a life-long LSU homer. Man, we have had the highest of highs, and lowest of lows.
ReplyDeleteMontana was a true joy to watch...at ND, and in the pros. And you are right! We likes who we likes.
Certainly, the mark of a true fan. I can respect that. Even though I have hated Notre Dame since the era of Ara...well, not really...I got back on board when Holtz was there...I respect, and truly appreciate a real homer.
Even if ND means North Dakota, ya' gotta tip a hat to loyalty.
Where did you hide our 52" television, or for that matter, Where is the media room exactly?
