An alien discusses the Arizona immigration bill...

Roland Hulme is one of my favorite liberal bloggers.  I'm not sure that he'd call himself a "liberal," but I will.  I rarely agree with anything Roland writes, yet I keep visiting his place, and read every post.

While I firmly disagree with most of his political views, I respect the tone with which he writes.  And, he gives me good insight into what makes libs tick.  And besides, he seems like a decent Joe, and a lib that's not always either seething, or depressed.  I knew that Roland is a "legal" alien in the US, and was curious whether he would chime in on the Arizona hoopla.

He did.  And, it's worth a read...

  1. Roland had a reasonable and rational take on this issue. Unlike most mouth-breathers on the Left.

  2. Definitely a good read...full of rationality, reason, perspective, logic, and balance. The guy is no moonbat...

  3. Thanks Andy. Hulme's piece is the most sensible thing I've read on this issue from either conservatives or liberals.

  5. He may be a liberal, I don't know, but he is a logical liberal, if that be the case.

    That's a rather rare combination.

  6. Dadman, Roland is no "Moonbat," as you noted. He is a thinker.

He is a young man with an adorable child, and a very entertaining outlook on life, trying to make his way in life here in the US.

He is a very talented writer, and computer guy that recently lost steady employment.

Heh! He has assembled a new business.

If you've got any idears for the boy, I'm sure he'd appreciate it.

Buck, Moogie, and Dan, I found it to be very sane, and informative myself. Even if Roland does think Obama is smart, he's not repulsive at all. I mean, the "mohawk" in that shot is a little over the top...but I think my Daddy wore one of those back in 1952...

  7. Walt, I believe that Roland really thinks himself to be a lib.

As many of us old guys know...as we age, we find out that we're not nearly as "liberal" as we thought we were in our younger days.

I have been reading his posts for a good long time. You can check them out on his site if you want to.

I like the guy. I really do. He is funny, and sincere. He can LOL about his big land cruiser that got piled over with snow (he lives up there near your sister). And, he can post photos of his little boy getting his first haircut. And, he can take a straightforward approach to the AZ mess. (I know you've got the T-shirt on that one).

I really appreciate guys like Roland. They are doing their best to figger out this whole spinning orb.

    We've got several T-shirts, huh?

  8. Okay, so you found a somewhat rational lib. That doesn't explain the irrationality of the rest of 'em ;)

Not that I was looking for an answer, beyond that I could find over at Paul's place.

He does get credit for a thoughtful piece. Too bad a crapload of American media idiots don't sit down and take such a step back.

  9. Thanks for linking to Roland's post. It was definitely a worthy read.

  10. Skunks, I've found more than one rational lib. Some are in my own family, and I love them very much. Seriously!

We may not see "eye to eye" on political junk...but they are (as I am) always fishing around to figure out "what's what, and what's not."

Guys like Roland really fascinate me. I know what it is like to leave the "sameness" of your home...walk away from your culture, and plant yourself in another.

And, Soloman...thanks for stopping by. I appreciate the comment you left over at Roland's place. I've got more than one friend, and a few relatives (in-law) in AZ. You all have really HAD IT for a good long while.

    It's hot over there...
