Y'all all know that I am a proud resident of NW Louisiana. I really am. I was born here, raised here, spent most of my life here, and will likely die here.
Pretty soon.
Everybody knows that The Gooble is planning some kind of big plan to make their own internet. And, Shreveport is working on their own advertising plan to maybe get to be the place where The Gooble tries it out.
See?
Now, I was planning to do my very best to wield my influence with The Gooble on this. Even though I know they are WRONG, and all, I decided to try to be a good citizen of the community, and see if I might not be somehow able to assist Shreveport in getting the BIG NEW EXPERIMENTAL internet deal that The Gooble claims they are going to really install. Somewhere. Someplace. Sometime. Maybe.
Sure...
Anyway, it seems that Shreveport's Mayor, Cedric Glover has made his own pitch to The Gooble to get The Gooble to promise to do a new internet deal here in Shreveport. Maybe. If they do it. Ever. Anywhere.
Maybe.
I really like Cedric on a personal level. I think he is probably a very good man. I get good vibes from Mayor Glover. I mean, I've been in two different restaurants with him, and never ONCE got the feeling that I was about to be sucked down whole! He was always real nice, and courteous. Of course, he did have to sit out in the aisle in a chair at Barnhill's Buffet, because he could not fit into the booth where normal humans sit. And once, I ran in to him (figuratively) down at Brothers Seafood when it was still open (before it closed...just like all the restaurants do under the bridge in Shreveport...but I digress). He was there eating lunch with Lydia Jackon, and some other legislative wonk types.
I'll tell you what! I was really glad that Cedric was surrounded by a bunch of witnesses...because a scawny little shrimp cracker like me can get awfully nervous around a gynormous black dude with a napkin tucked in his collar.
But, the fact that he is bigger than Rhode Island does not make him a bad person! I mean...he did get elected as Mayor of a reasonably large city in the US. And, honestly, he seems to be a decent guy. I mean, he supported ObozO when he ran for President. But, I know a lot of decent folks that supported that air biscuit.
What was I saying? Oh yeah...Cedric Glover makes his case to The Gooble...
I stole this off of Rex...
And, I think Cedric did a dang good job of it. IMH Expert opinion, Mayor Glover well made the case for The Gooble to maybe promise us to do a new internet deal here before they decide not to do it. Shreveport will probably invest millions of bucks, and the State of Louisiana will probably invest other millions of our bucks getting everything all ready for it before The Gooble decides not to do it, or to do it up in Kansas, where the stinkin' State Capitol changed it's name to The Gooble just to boot-lick The Gooble.
Now, that's sad...
Just a word of caution here. The Gooble is wrong. I'm not sure I've ever told y'all that before, but trust me on this one.
Well, I got about half-way through Glover's spiel before I quit watching and... forgive me... but he's just doin' the standard politician boosterism thang. You know that story about commitment? The one that talks about the difference between chickens and pigs when it comes to breakfast? Well, Duluth also did a pitch to Google, and Duluth's mayor is COMMITTED.
ReplyDeleteHeh.
