I pray that today will be a solemn one, focusing on nothing more than this brave young man, and his high calling.
The funeral service is scheduled to commence at 2 pm, CDT. I would invite each of you stop for just a moment at that time, and breathe a prayer for the Tomlinson family. And, for all of his friends, and his mates serving US in uniform.
What a handsome young man. All reports are that Joshua was one of the really "good guys" growing up...liked by all...quick witted...loyal. We NW Louisiana bloggers have heard from dozens of his friends, and Soldiers that served with him since originally posting the story of his death.
In one accord, they sing his praises as a Soldier, and as a friend. I know it sounds "hollow," but I almost feel like I know him.
The Shreveport Times reported on a candlelight memorial held Thursday evening in Minden..."I think he could make a mime laugh."
Rest easy, Soldier...
I'll stop what I'm doing at 1300 hrs today for a moment of silence and thanks. How very sad, and sadly fitting, that Spc. Tomlinson should be laid to rest on this Memorial Day weekend. My thoughts go out to the family and friends of this fine young man.
