Who do you write like? (Updated)

Hey y'all! Hugs, kisses, yada yada yada...

(Update:  I pasted the Beatitudes from Christ's Sermon on the Mount in to the writing analyzer.  Here is the result.

End of Update)

I hope y'all's Humpday is going great!  Since Andy's Place is quickly becoming the go-to place on the worldwide computer for boring content, and time-wasting quizzes (thank you very much for your support), I figured I'd throw another one at y'all!

I was over at Mrs. Who's place, and she had linked to an analysis tool that tells you what famous writer you write like.  So, I was curious.  I figured it would show me something like Dr. Seuss, or something.  But, I was a little surprised.

I took the analysis three times, using three different entire blog posts from the last three months.  Here are the instructions you'll see.

I Write Like...

Check what famous writer you write like with this statistical analysis tool, which analyzes your word choice and writing style and compares them to those of the famous writers.
Any text in English will do: your latest blog post, journal entry, Reddit comment, chapter of your unfinished book, etc. For reliable results paste at least a few paragraphs (not tweets).
Paste your text here:

So, who does Andy write like according to this "statistical analysis tool?"

I write like
Stephen King

Nyuk! I don't think I've ever read an entire Stephen King book. But, I did see The Green Mile, and Cujo...which is the only film I have ever got up and walked out on due to being bored stiff.

Anyway, it is kind of interesting, and yet another good old fashioned "waste of time" that you are rapidly coming to expect each time you visit.  Here ya' go...you're welcome!

  1. So, apparently I write like Robert Louis Stevenson, Steven King or Dan Brown depending on if I'm writing a story about my life, a movie review or commenting on some technology or other.

Basically either I'm schizophrenic on the keyboard, or the site is a waste of time (which I see is how you tagged it.)

  2. Cosmic, I've read enough of your stuff to think that Stevenson thing is just about right. And yes, it is a waste of time. Nyuk...

  5. You are truly wicked with the Hump Day Hotty Trickery!

This could be bad news. I submitted 3 posts and got 3 different writers. The bad news? The analyzer agrees with the "is your blog written by a chick or a dude" thingy. THEY'RE ALL MEN!! ALL THREE WRITERS!!!

Am I turning into a man?!?! It can't be!! I always fasten my seatbelt before setting the car in motion and I don't have to stop to re-arrange what sits upon the seat!!!!

And I know how to use the laundry hamper and let's not even mention the toilet seat.

Sigh. At least I know who Kurt Vonnegut is. Never heard of Chuck Palahniuk or Raymond Chandler. And I hesitate to google them for fear of learning that they're both famous for being writers in the transgendered community.

  6. Stephen King too. Must be something in the air in Bossier. (I like his books, he is a good writer.)

  7. Moogie: Cheer up, Dude! It ain't all that bad. I have read several gals say that they registered as male writers. In fact, I haven't seen one female writer result.

There are probably just men in the pool this thing is swimming in.

As to whether you're turning in to a man. Well...only Pepper (or your hairdresser) would know for sure.

Jim: I've never read one. But, my two oldest sons have read everything he's written. Don't know about #3 son...but probably some.

  8. I came back as Margaret Atwood and James Joyce. Either they're overrated or I am.

  9. Dave, that is interesting. This is the first "female" result I've seen.

    Margaret Atwood, eh? Hmmmm... Canuck...hmmmmm....
